Sažetak

The Museum of Slavonia has been a significant cultural and communication destination in the city of Osijek since its inception in the 19th century to this day. An integral part of the Museum is the museum library, whose holdings, as it accumulated valuable items of cultural and historical, scientific and professional material, has grown over time and become a recent example of the promotion of the city of Osijek. During World War II, the old holdings of the library of the former Great Grammar School (gymnasium) was transferred to the Museum, and was thus saved from possible destruction and was incorporated into the Museum’s library as a separate unit.

This paper deals with the analysis of the holdings and inventory records of the aforementioned Grammar School Library, and the results of this research confirm the fact that it has the character of a cultural and historical source and as such contributes to the promotion of the city of Osijek and its surroundings.
